Our Story
It all started in the early 80’s when water was seeping through the ceiling above the kitchen, looking at the damage that was cause and the stress on my parents faces. What they when through trying to work out why the water was leaking through the ceiling above……..
Only to find out the waterproofing membrane in shower floor above had failed and we only had one shower in the house back then. I can still vividly remember the builders coming in and renovating the bathroom at the time. “That should fix it now” the builder mentioned to my parents!!
And it surely didn’t, the entire bathroom had to get renovated again after the builder failed the manage and completing the project properly. The waterproofing failed again and it was within months of the bathroom being completed. I said to myself, I wouldn’t want anyone go through this!!
From there I had planted the seed for Independent Waterproofing, more than 45 years on and 34 years in business, Independent has become the heart and soul of keeping our clients worries at bay. Knowing that waterproofing is an art and when done with care, it can never fail.

Barry Michelmore is the man behind the success of Independent Waterproofing. With a world of first hand experience and understanding with waterproofing Barry knows the seriousness when it comes to making sure the preparation, application and completion of the project are undertaken and streamlined.
